You Don’t Need Motivation—You Need a God-Sized Vision

May 07, 2025

Motivation is garbage. At least, that's what Mel Robbins says—and it’s gone viral. Her bold claim is shaking up the self-help world. But is it truth, or just close to it?

Mel makes a great point: waiting for motivation is a trap. You can’t wait to feel ready. Life shifts when you decide to act, not when you feel like it. Her 5-Second Rule teaches you to move quickly before your brain talks you out of it. It’s sound advice—but it misses one critical piece.

You see, Mel says to move with willpower. But what happens when your willpower runs out? What happens when you hit resistance, burnout, or fear? That’s where the world’s advice falls short. It’s an inch from the truth—but a mile from transformation.

Here’s where faith enters the conversation. Willpower is finite. Divine power is not.

In Exodus 14:15, God tells Moses, “Quit praying and get the people moving!” He doesn’t say, “Find motivation.” He says, move in faith. Moses didn’t cross the Red Sea by sheer hustle. He obeyed in trust, and God parted the water.

Mel says motivation is garbage—and in the worldly sense, it is. But what we need isn’t more hustle. It’s godly inspiration. It’s movement rooted in divine vision and purpose.

When you move in alignment with God’s calling, you don’t have to push yourself—you’re pulled. You’re pulled by clarity, purpose, and divine energy. You don’t need to hype yourself up every morning because your heart is lit with fire from above.

So how do you tap into this?

Start with prayer. Ask for vision—the ability to see beyond your circumstances—and purpose—your why. With those two anchors, you won’t need to chase fleeting motivation. You’ll be moved by mission.

Remember Joseph in the Bible? He didn’t manifest his dreams. He walked in purpose and trusted God, even through betrayal and prison. When his time came, he didn’t need motivation. He needed—and had—faith.

So yes, motivation without faith is garbage. But motivation infused with divine purpose? That’s unstoppable.

Stop grinding on empty. Start moving in faith.
