Why Desire — Not Luck — Unlocks Your Breakthrough

Aug 28, 2025

Everyone has a dream. A business idea. A relationship. A breakthrough they’ve been waiting on. But here’s the truth: most people don’t see it happen. Not because they weren’t smart enough, talented enough, or lucky enough — but because they didn’t burn for it.

You don’t get what you wish for. You get what you burn for.

There’s a world of difference between weak desire and burning desire. Weak desire says, “It would be nice if this worked out.” Burning desire says, “This has to happen.”

Imagine this: if your child needed lifesaving medicine and you had three months to come up with the money, would you find a way? Of course you would. You’d discover skills you didn’t know you had. You’d get scrappy. You’d take bold action. Why? Because your why would be bigger than your fear.

That’s the fuel of breakthrough. Napoleon Hill said it best: “Weak desire brings weak results. Strong desire brings strong results.”

Here’s the good news: if God placed the dream in you, He intends to bring it to life. If He gave you the vision, He will bring the provision. But your part is desire — faith-filled, God-aligned desire that refuses to quit.

Six months ago, I didn’t even own a Mac. I had no clue how to edit video, upload to YouTube, or start a podcast. I barely knew how to use Google Drive (my daughters had to show me!). But I had a vision. I had burning desire. And no obstacle — not living on a boat, not failed plans, not lack of experience — was going to stop me. Because the vision was clear and the why was strong.

So how do you cultivate that kind of desire? Let’s break it down with a simple DESIRE framework:

  • D — Desire to trust God. His timing, not yours. Habakkuk 2:3 says, “Though it tarry, wait for it, it will surely come.”
  • E — Encourage yourself. Speak truth over your dreams. Don’t wait for cheerleaders. Be your own encourager through God’s word.
  • S — Set your dream clearly. Write it down. Create a vision board. Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision and make it plain.”
  • I — Increase your faith through action. Move, serve, create. God meets you in the motion.
  • R — Reject negative words. Protect your atmosphere. Words shape thoughts, and thoughts shape your life.
  • E — Elevate your mindset. Not hustle culture. Holy alignment.

Here’s the takeaway: your dream isn’t random. It’s assigned. If it’s from God, it’s already yours. Your part is to believe it, speak it, and move like it’s done.

So stop waiting for luck. Stop watering down your vision. Stop wishing and start burning. Because when your why sets your soul on fire, nothing — not fear, not obstacles, not setbacks — can put it out.

If He gave you the vision, He’ll give you the provision.
