The Truth About Fear and Why It’s Time to Launch Anyway

May 27, 2025

What if I told you that the thing stopping most dreams isn’t failure, rejection, or lack of time—but fear of what others think?

It’s not that we aren’t talented or capable. It’s that somewhere in the background of our big dreams, a little voice sneaks in and whispers, “What if they judge me?” And just like that, we freeze. We shrink. We settle.

Hi, I’m Jen Smith, and I’m telling you this not from a mountaintop, but from right here in the messy middle. What you’re seeing from me on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok isn’t polished perfection—it’s raw, real faith in motion. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

Nobody’s thinking about you as much as you think they are.

It sounds harsh, maybe a little deflating, but it’s actually freeing. Everyone is so caught up in their own worlds that they don’t have time to dissect yours. So why are you holding back based on imaginary opinions?

The fear of being seen trying is what’s killing more dreams than failure ever could. But here’s the truth: fear is not from God. And He certainly didn’t design you to live shackled by it.

So how do we overcome this fear and move anyway? Here’s a simple four-step process that can help you start launching:

1. Name the Fear Out Loud

Fear festers in the dark. But when you name it—“I’m scared people will laugh,” or “I’m afraid I’ll fail in front of everyone”—you bring it into the light. And what’s exposed can be replaced with truth.

2. Take a Step (Publicly)

Post something messy. Speak your idea aloud. Make the move even when it’s not perfect. Because confidence doesn’t come first—courage does. Every step you take weakens fear’s grip.

3. Remember: You Are Not Alone

You’re not doing this solo. God gave you the dream, and He will walk with you through the risk. You’ve also got this community. People like me and others who are building faith-based dreams with wobbly steps and bold hearts.

4. Be Vulnerable—For Real

Don’t try to impress people with a picture-perfect story. People connect to your realness. Your “in-between” moments are often the place where God shows up the most. So let Him use you there.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to be polished. You just have to be willing. God meets you in the movement, not in the waiting.

So if you’re standing on the edge today, wondering whether to go for it—please know this:

Yes. It’s worth the risk.

You were made for more. That nudge you feel? That’s your calling. And it’s not waiting for perfect conditions. It’s waiting for your yes.

You already have God. And now you have me. That’s more than enough to begin. So let’s stop waiting. Let’s launch—together.
