Move Forward: Why Your Greatest Days Are Still Ahead

Jun 09, 2025

Do you ever find yourself replaying old memories, reliving highlight reels, or wishing you could go back to "better days"? You’re not alone. But here’s some truth that might just launch your life: your greatest moments haven’t happened yet.

The past has a funny way of trapping us. Nostalgia can be sweet, but if you're not careful, it becomes a comfort zone that kills progress. Memories are meant to be honored, not idolized.

The Bible makes this clear in Proverbs 29:18: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Notice it doesn’t say “where there is no memory.” Vision drives movement. Movement builds momentum. And momentum fuels purpose.

In fact, one of the clearest examples of what not to do comes from Lot’s wife. God told her to move forward and not look back. But she turned around—and became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Salt preserves, but it also represents stagnation. Looking back kept her from stepping into the new thing God was doing.

So what about you? Are you reminiscing or dreaming? Are you scrolling through old photos or building something new?

Here’s the truth: if you're constantly reliving the past, you've stopped expecting greatness from the future. And that’s not how God designed you to live.

Isaiah 43:18 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” God wants you dreaming ahead. No matter your age, your story isn’t over. In fact, the most impactful chapters may still be unwritten.

But dreaming ahead doesn’t mean sitting back and hoping. It means taking action.

James 2:17 says, “Faith without works is dead.” Hope is powerful—but hope with action? That’s transformation. That’s momentum. That’s how you get unstuck.

So here’s your new motto:

  • Action, not just hope.
  • Passion, not obligation.
  • Vision, not memory.

If you're tired of feeling stuck in yesterday, start asking God, “What do you want me to build today?” Pray for new vision. Take one small step. Write one new dream down. Move in faith.
