Stop Chasing Money—Start Chasing God: A Faith-Based Blueprint for True Wealth
If you've ever felt like you're on a relentless treadmill chasing success, wealth, or financial freedom—you're not alone. But what if everything you’ve been taught about making money is… backward?
Welcome to Elevate. I'm Jen Smith, and today we're flipping the script. Because if you want money to chase you, you've got to stop chasing money.
Let’s start with some truth from the ultimate success manual—the Bible.
Proverbs 11:28 says,
"Trust in your money and down you go, but the godly flourish like leaves in spring."
Translation? If you're relying solely on cash, you’ll crash. But when you trust in God, you flourish—like a tree with deep roots and fruit that lasts.
Here’s the thing: money isn’t evil. Wealth isn’t wrong. Success isn’t sinful. Proverbs 10:16 reminds us,
"The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin."
That means when good people earn money, they advance the cause of righteousness. Whether it’s supporting single moms, funding mission trips, or backing bold dreams, money in the right hands does holy work.
So, what’s the problem?
Chasing money without purpose leads to burnout, anxiety, and an empty life. But when you align your purpose with God’s plan, abundance flows.
Let’s get practical. Here are 5 steps to building God-centered wealth:
1. Find Your God-Given Gift (Your Niche)
Your gift is usually the thing that feels like common sense to you—but it’s powerful to others. Maybe you’re great at encouraging, organizing, teaching, or building. Ask God to reveal the “breadcrumb trails” that lead to your purpose.
Romans 12:6 tells us we all have different gifts, each one divinely appointed.
2. Use That Gift to Serve Others
Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you.”
Generosity isn’t just good—it’s God’s growth strategy. Serve from the heart, not for the hustle. Bless others and watch blessings flow back.
3. Work with Integrity
Proverbs 13:11 reminds us: “Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.”
Slow and steady is God’s favorite pace. Faith and patience are part of the process.
4. Move (Even Before You Feel Ready)
James 2:17 says, “Faith without works is dead.”
Don't wait for the perfect moment. Just move. Apply, show up, speak up, serve. God doesn’t need perfection—He blesses motion.
5. Trust God Over Money
Let’s be clear: If money is your master, freedom is impossible.
Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.”
Chase God and watch provision chase you.
The world tells you to hustle and grind. But God says, “I’ll meet you in your movement.” He gives you the power to create wealth—not for selfish gain, but for kingdom impact (Deuteronomy 8:18).
So, if fast money hasn't fulfilled you, maybe it’s time to try it God’s way.
Let go of chasing money. Start chasing purpose.
Trust that God will bring the right people, opportunities, and provision—in His perfect time.
