Bold Obedience: Stop Asking for Permission and Start Moving

Jun 10, 2025

How many dreams have died because we were waiting to feel “ready”? How much purpose has been delayed while we silently asked the world, “Is it okay if I go for this?”

The truth is, most people aren’t stuck because they lack talent. They’re stuck because they’re paralyzed by opinions—imagined judgments from people who are too busy living their own lives to really notice what you're doing.

It’s time to stop asking for permission to live the life God already assigned to you. That includes launching the podcast, starting the business, writing the book, stepping into a new relationship, or sharing your faith. Whatever “it” is for you, the first step isn’t confidence—it’s obedience.

God doesn’t require your perfection. He needs your yes.

Hebrews 10:38 says, “My righteous one will live by faith, and I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” That one line flips the script. It’s not about waiting to be fearless. It’s about showing up scared.

Years ago, I found myself deleting more content than I posted. I would record with fire in my heart—and then pause, paralyzed by thoughts like, “Do I sound weird? Will they think I’m trying too hard?” I wasn’t frozen by lack of passion. I was frozen by fear of judgment.

And then one day, I asked God, “Why haven’t you moved me yet?”
His quiet whisper?
“Why haven’t you?”

It shook me.

I realized I was praying for boldness while bowing to approval. I was asking for launch while clinging to likes. That night, I made a decision—I’m done asking permission to be who God already called me to be.

Obedience doesn’t always feel bold. In fact, it often feels awkward. But faith lives in that exact space between discomfort and destiny. You may feel like a mess. But God equips the messy. He equips the called—not just the confident.

And here’s something no one talks about:
You need the right room.
The world rewards polish, but God honors progress. So surround yourself with people who cheer when you try—not just when you win. Find a circle that claps when you step out in faith, even if it’s wobbly and weird.

Obedience isn’t about aesthetics. It’s about alignment. It’s not about being cringey or cool. It’s about being faithful. And when you anchor your identity in what God says about you—you’ll start to care a lot less about what the world thinks.

If you’re still stuck asking, “Am I too much?” or “Do they like me?”
It’s time to ask the better question:
“Am I obeying God?”

Because cringe is temporary. Calling is eternal.

So this week—do the scary thing. Post the video. Send the message. Apply for the job. Show up scared. Because when you move in obedience, God meets you in motion.
